September 11, 2001 Memorial

I was so impressed by the sympathy and compassion that our class had towards September 11, 2001. It amazed me and really helped lead to a great lesson. We watched kid appropriate videos, read a story, and came up with our own summary of that day.

Bully Prevention Contest

Since LPA is a Character School, we had a bully prevention contest between all the classes. Our class read books about bullying and what happens when someone is bullied. We also created a character that was either a bully or a buddy. Then, people had to guess if we were a bully or a buddy and check by lifting up the flap which revealed the answer!

Before you speak, think and be smart. It's hard to fix a wrinkled heart.

Place Value Mystery Numbers

We got to play a math game where we had to guess the place value mystery cards. We even got to create our own mystery numbers!

Math Trivia!

We got to use Mrs. Gonter's answer buzzers during a math trivia game. Whoever was the first to answer the question correctly and press the buzzer got a point for their team. We have been learning about place value. Quiz us!

Mr. Gonter Comes to Visit!

When Mr. Gonter was in town he came to meet us, answer our questions and read us a story.
(Mr.  Gonter is in the U.S. Navy, and the kids were fascinated seeing him in uniform!)

Last week we had the Scholastic Book Fair at our school and many of us got to purchase books! Thanks to our amazing parents for these 4 new books for our classroom!!! :)

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of MLK's Famous Speech

We watched videos, read books, brainstormed, discussed and did activities in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

Fruit Kabobs

Mrs. Paye came to teach another Nutrition Lesson. This time we learned about the food groups and we made fruit kabobs. We ate them during recess...and all the extra fruit too! Being healthy is delicious!
